Women are fashion-conscious around the world. Here in a rural part of Congo, too, women take care over thier appearance, especially hair. To braid hair nicely is the most important thing regardless of its pain. I left my hair straight, which interested them and I was always asked why I did not braid my hair, or if it was wig or my original hair.

What was most impressed by the children was that they obey not only their parents but any adults. They go on a message, go shopping, cook, wash clothes, clean houses, draw water, take care of their younger brothers and sisters.
